Plzen

The town, founded in the end of 13th century, is a significant cultural, economic, industrial and business centre of the West Bohemia. It is situated at the confluence of four rivers in the Plzen basin. Plzen is famous for the Skoda machinery works and Pilsner Urquell beer. The historical centre of the town was pronounced an urban protected area. The main places of interest are the Renaissance town hall, the Jewish synagogue, the Plague column, the Franciscan monastery, the brewery museum.
